When Poznań dresses up in Christmas attire, its heart starts beating at the Fairs, where the Christmas Market attracts crowds each year, seeking the magic and wonderful atmosphere of the upcoming holidays. This traditional place, with over 43,000 LED lights, casts a new light on Christmas preparations, making Poznań the home of the “Best Christmas Market in Poland” in the European Best Destination poll. The Christmas market at the Fairs lasts a record long until January 7th, making it the the longest Christmas market in Poznań’s history and one of the longest in the country.
Ecological approach to Christmas illuminations The ecological approach to Christmas illuminations is the foundation of what makes the Poznań Fair so special. Eco-friendly LED lighting consumes up to 90% less energy compared to traditional bulbs and has a much longer lifespan. Choosing this technology not only significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also protects our planet for future generations. Safety is key here, especially for the youngest visitors, guaranteed by the use of low voltage 36V in the light installations.
Main challenges and Multidekor’s contribution The main challenges Multidekor faced while creating and installing the illuminations at the Christmas Fair in Poznań included integrating a vast light canopy with the ice rink, which required precise planning and execution. Additionally, our work was highly dependent on weather conditions, introducing additional difficulties in adhering to the tight schedule.
Multidekor, the creator of the illuminations and a Nature-Friendly Company, took care of the environment at every production step. In the spirit of sustainable development, 80% of the lighting used at the Fair comes from previous projects, and 100% of the aluminum used in the Christmas installation structures was recycled, highlighting the originality of giving a second life to illuminations and their components.
The Christmas Fair at the Fairs in Poznań is not only an opportunity to celebrate in a beautiful, festive setting but also a reminder that the magic of Christmas can go hand in hand with caring for our planet. Therefore, while celebrating in Poznań, we can feel part of something bigger – a community that not only enjoys the holidays but also takes care of the environment, setting an example of how green Christmas can be.
