A Porcelain Christmas in Riga

Honouring Riga’s Past with a Unique Holiday Story
When Akropole Riga—Latvia’s most modern shopping and entertainment centre—opened in 2019, its management sought a holiday décor concept as bold and distinctive as the space itself. Multidekor was selected through a competitive international tender not just for aesthetic value, but for storytelling that resonated with Riga’s cultural DNA.

A Design Rooted in Riga’s Industrial Heritage

The Akropole complex stands on the historic grounds of the former Kuznetsov porcelain factory, once a symbol of Latvia’s craftsmanship. Multidekor embraced this heritage, designing a signature Christmas concept built around porcelain motifs—delicate cups spilling streams of shimmering baubles, all brought to life with premium materials and eco-LED lighting. The result was more than decoration; it was a tribute to the city’s legacy.

A Holiday Experience That Lights Up the City

From the entrances to every gallery corridor, Akropole was transformed into a winter wonderland. The installation quickly became a seasonal icon in Riga—widely photographed, admired by families and tourists alike, and celebrated for its thoughtful connection to place.

“In December, the shopping and entertainment centre Akropole was literally lit up – unbelievably beautiful Christmas decorations made up of thousands of lights pleased the eye of the visitors all throughout the centre, starting already at the entrances.”
